I started this one today, and really like the way the hat is popping out. I used water soluble oil paints and water for the first coat (since the odourless mineral spirits gave me a rash - no details please). Temporary name is Mushroom Hat Squirrel.
Red Hat Squirrel is complete and shown here with the intended frame. I haven't varnished it yet, and since I'm a varnish virgin, I'm a little scared, and I might have to reach out and ask someone. I will post a photo with painting after the varnish is complete etc.
So I've now got three paintings on the assembly line, and will start the fourth one next week. I'm still working on Mohawk Squirrel, Red Hat Squirrel, and now Space Hat Squirrel (not sure on her name yet). I'm trying out a new method and new mediums that I really like.
