For Immediate Release
(Victoria: July 7, 2009) A feast for both your eyes and mouth await you as Amica at Somerset House and The Community Arts Council of Greater Victoria team up to present the first annual Paint and Pastry art show showcasing five local artists as well as the delicious pastry treats created by Amica’s Executive Chef Robert Kroeger.
“This is a chance for the public to stimulate both their minds and taste buds while overlooking one of the finest vistas in this part of the world, from the retirement residence of Amica at Somerset House,” says Moira King, Amica at Somerset House Community Relations Manager. “This innovative event aims to showcase the artistic talents of some of our creative residents along with those of the community at large.”Â
Featured artists include Bob Sivertson and Pierrette Alarie Simoneau, two very talented Amica at Somerset House residents, and Victoria Sketch Club artists Barbara Lover, Verna Linney and Ray Goldsworthy, all members of the Community Arts Council of Greater Victoria.Â
The 15-piece collection will feature a captivating selection of their works in acrylic, water colours, oils and pen, and ink. These works can be viewed, appreciated, discussed with the artists, and purchased.
“This collaboration with Amica at Somerset House is providing these artists with a wonderful opportunity, not just to forge partnerships with other local artists but also to enhance their profile in the community,” comments Sarah Rostami, Assistant Curator at the Community Arts Council of Greater Victoria.
The public is welcome and admission to the exhibit is free, as are the pastries! Amica at Somerset House is located at 540 Dallas Road. This event takes place on Wednesday, July 15 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm.Â
