Artist: Steve Chmilar
I went to the Moss Street Paint in last weekend, and was most impressed by Steve Chmilar’s work. I have posted an image to the left. Steve sent our an email to his guestbook fans and directed us to this link filled with artists from the Surrealism Pop Art Lowbrow art movement.Â
Beinart International Surreal Art Collective  www.beinart.org. One of my favourites is Mark Ryden, one of the most celebrated artists of the Pop Surrealism movement.
My wife and I also met Steve and was introduced to his work at the Moss Street Paint-in about 4 years ago. (his first year) We missed him this year as we did not go to the end of the street where we later determined that he had his spot. My wife was a bit upset over missing him.
This past year we purchased two reproductions of his paintings. One for me and one for my wife. My wife has hung hers in the kitchen not far from the stove depite a lot of good advice. It is the one pictured herein. Mine is the one of two men racing in carts that are pulled by poorer men being powered by the so called “carrot”.
Of all the talented artists showing their works at the Moss Street event over the years Steve’s work appeals to us most.
We wish him great success
It’s great to hear about your collection of Steve’s reproductions. I too came across his work same year. Such a talent. I’m looking forward to his first art show one day. If you hear word let me know so I can post it at my blog. There’s a ton of people waiting and watching for it I’m sure.
Thanks for your comments, happy collecting.
