I started this painting several weeks ago with the idea she would have bright green hair, and then yesterday came upon a Lady Gaga photograph on my Facebook newsfeed with - you guessed it - Lady Gaga wearing a green wig.
Mushroom Hat Squirrel is complete, she makes complete the fourth painting that will appear at the Red Art Gallery show called Friends and Other Funny Folks that will take place August 02-31st, 2011.
LG thinks this resembles me the most, and I’m thinking it’s ’cause of the hat?

I also had issue with the string of pearls on Space Hat Squirrel, so I redid them, and here’s the post, plus updated on my gallery page.
Red Hat Squirrel is complete and shown here with the intended frame. I haven’t varnished it yet, and since I’m a varnish virgin, I’m a little scared, and I might have to reach out and ask someone. I will post a photo with painting after the varnish is complete etc.
The Secret Squirrel Show, features artwork that preserves Scottish lore, religious iconography and pop culture while using Contemporary motif and techniques often seen in Pop Surrealism.

The Final Word
Many thanks to everyone who came out to the show (and those in spirit), it was a magical afternoon.
A huge thank you to the folks who bought a piece of my artwork. I know you will take good care of the “secret squirrels.”
Over 100 art enthusiasts arrived at the Ferris’ Upstairs Oyster Bar to enjoy whisky, wine, and hor d’oeuvres. It was a Sunday afternoon event, with relaxed and happy conversation.
In an effort to raise awareness and funds for the OCTA Collective Society, I pledged 10% of the proceeds made during the opening event. Together we raised $306.91 towards their artsREACH program.
Efren Quiroz from Exhibit-V.ca created a video clip of exhibition and people attending the event. The video also includes an interview with me discussing The Secret Squirrels show.
Fun video with live squirrels!
Here’s a link to my online gallery to see the Secret Squirrel paintings. Below is a fun video featuring the real squirrels from our yard, and the paintings they’ve inspired.
Upcoming Show
For my next trick, I’m going to strip naked and attach squirrel tails to my *edited copy* and skip through the graveyard to the beat of polka music. How scandalous! Ok, I wanted to grab your attention, this next part is really important (smile).

Secret Squirrels Art Show at Ferris' Upstairs Oyster Bar
I will post a longer review of the Secret Squirrels show either tomorrow or next week, but in the meantime, check out this video with me talking about the art show, see the artwork, and many thanks for this coverage by Efren Quiroz, the owner of Exhibit-V.ca
He was sitting on the floor half finished since December 2009.
I heard a muffled voice say, “Carollyne, please include me in the upcoming squirrel show.” Then I heard something about not wanting to look like a buffalo.
It turns out Elvis Squirrel will be in the building for the Secret Squirrels show!
Elvis Squirrel: Dance Aloha Style, 18 X 24, Acrylic and Oil on Canvas
I’ve just completed Tropical Girl Squirrel and Gnome. This was inspired by a recent adventure to the Hawaiian Islands, vintage postcards by Garry Palm, and my Grandmother’s dress. Over the years I have accumulated a collection of vintage gowns and dresses. I like to trot them out now and again to relive their glory days by wearing them out to a party. But, I have discovered a new reason to give them life!
Dress modeled for Tropical Girl Squirrel & Gnome
I posed myself in the style of a vintage postcard wearing my grandmothers dress. Adding some creative & imaginative alterations, I transformed it into a fun fresh girly dress for this painting (and added giant boobs). I had been planning on painting a Gnome Squirrel, and then I acquired a painting by Noah Becker called, Gnome. As a result, I was inspired to incorporate a gnome into my next painting. I think that Gnome Squirrel might be next, but I’ve been meaning to work on Elvis Squirrel, which is still unfinished.
