PRESS RELEASE, Community Arts Council of Greater Victoria
Regarding our Silent Auction Fundraiser at the LOOK 2010 Show at The Bay Centre,
the Community Arts Council of Greater Victoria is pleased with the first bid of $2,000
for the Jimmy Wright painting, donated by Pat Cook, who has also donated one of her
own paintings with a reserve bid of $400. We are grateful for her generosity.
100% of the money from the Silent Auction is for CACGV activities such as the
LOOK 2010 Show. We are collecting artworks from other artists and will have
ongoing auctions to raise funds for the CACGV. Due to the provincial cuts, we
are grateful for all support from individuals and sponsors, including OPUS
Victoria, The Bay Centre, DVBA, Prism Imaging, Island Blue, ArtWorld, Monday
Magazine, Vancouver Island School of Art, Staples, Monk Office Supplies,
Dutch Bakery, CRD and the BC Arts Council.
Since 1968 the Community Arts Council of Greater Victoria has served the
public as a charitable, non-profit, community arts umbrella organization. It is
a vehicle for the preservation, enhancement and development of our local
community culture. It provides programs and services, a support network for
emerging/established artists and arts associations, and recognizes and rewards
achievement and potential in the arts. The CACGV provides a source of information,
and is a site for display and performance of the arts.
