I had a dream about this painting on the evening of my last art show called Never Dine Alone. This painting incorporates another level of hybrid in my imaginary world.

A girl standing in a birds nest wearing a powdered wig, fancy Victorian hat, with long blue wings with a squirrel face holding a dove. The dove was a consciously added embellishment and represents messages. The Dovekeeper is the keeper of those messages that surround us. It is human nature to ask questions about our future, the greatest secret of all, and The Dovekeeper is the very keeper theses secrets – your future.

Hats, or headgear of some sort are becoming a staple of my character portraits. Here is a link to the underpainting in black and white. This painting is part of a new series, and there are “wings” in all of them so far. I will post more as they are in progress or completion. The next painting from this series is called Morning Glory.
