Holobionts 2019. Squirrel hair, cat hair, magnolia petals, leaf skeleton, human hair, 30% wood fibre acrylic, wax, feather, oak tree branch, acorns. Part 1

In July I worked on an alt-method of art making. I focused on spinning and needle-felting human and non-human hair, walking, collecting organic material, and collaborating with a 3D printer. The handling of different materials gave me the inspiration to experiment and try new things.

The natural materials I used for my project included hair gifted to me by six of my friends (Manna, Carolyn, Melissa, Evangeline, Heather, and Hazel). Melissa also gifted me hair from her cat Piper. Additionally, I received a small amount of Eastern Grey Squirrel hair from another friend. While out walking, I found magnolia petals, leaf skeletons, a feather, and several oak tree branches and acorns.

A huge thank you to the humans and non-humans who gifted me their hair to work with, I really enjoyed thinking of you all during my experiments! There is additional documentation at my website.
